In July, Maruti Suzuki solidified its position as the leader in the Indian car market, topping the monthly sales chart with an impressive combined figure of 152,126 units. Despite facing challenges in the market, the carmaker achieved a remarkable YoY growth of 6.5 percent and a significant MoM increase of 14.4 percent compared to June’s sales of 133,027 units. Maruti Suzuki Eeco – The Versatile Utility Van

Kicking off the top 10 list is the Maruti Suzuki Eeco, a versatile utility van popular among both private and commercial buyers. While it witnessed an 8 percent YoY decline, the Eeco experienced a phenomenal 25.8 percent MoM growth, selling 12,037 units in July 2023. The Eeco received a facelift in November 2022, equipping it with the new naturally-aspirated 1.2-litre K-series engine, producing 89 hp of power and 104.4 Nm of torque. The model also offers a CNG variant, slightly reducing the performance figures to 71 hp of power and 95 Nm of torque. It’s worth noting that the Eeco prioritizes utility and functionality, making it a preferred choice for business owners.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR – A Steady Favorite

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR, which held the top position in June 2023 with 17,481 units sold, faced a considerable decline in July, selling only 12,970 units, representing a sharp 26 percent drop. The YoY comparison is even more drastic, with a negative 43 percent compared to July 2022’s sales of 22,588 units. Nevertheless, the WagonR has maintained its status as the best-selling car for two consecutive years till March. The model still offers three powertrain options, including a CNG variant, providing buyers with choices for different driving needs.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire – A Resilient Performer

Despite experiencing a 3 percent YoY decline, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire managed to secure the sixth spot in July, selling 13,395 units. Surprisingly, the car didn’t make the charts in June, but its sales surged by an impressive 43 percent since then. The Dzire continues to offer a diverse range of trims and is expected to receive a new generation update next year with a robust hybrid setup. Currently, the Dzire is available in petrol and CNG variants, catering to the preferences of different buyers.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga – A Remarkable Jump

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga achieved a substantial leap in July, selling 14,352 units compared to June’s 8,422 units, marking a remarkable growth of over 70 percent. Its YoY sales also saw an impressive 48 percent surge since July 2022’s sales of 9,694 units. The Ertiga underwent a mid-life refresh in April, receiving various updates and an upgraded 1.5-litre DualJet engine. Buyers can opt for the automatic or manual transmission, and there’s also a CNG variant available, catering to different driving preferences. Additionally, the Ertiga boasts an array of features, including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and advanced safety features like four airbags, ABS, and EBD.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza – A Top Performer

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza witnessed an extraordinary 70 percent YoY sales spike, with 16,543 units sold in July, a significant increase from 9,709 units in July 2022. The model also experienced a 56 percent MoM growth, rising from 10,578 units in June. The compact SUV has gained popularity as one of the most preferred cars in the country. Equipped with the K15C 1.5-litre petrol engine, producing 103 hp of power and 136 Nm of torque, the Brezza offers a CNG variant with 87 hp of power and 121 Nm of torque, available exclusively with a manual transmission.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno – A Premium Contender

From Maruti Suzuki’s premium segment, the Baleno secured the second spot with sales of 16,725 units in July. Though it faced a YoY decline of 7 percent compared to last July’s sales of 19,760 units, its MoM sales increased by 17.5 percent from 14,077 units in June. Starting at a price of Rs 6.61 lakh, the Baleno comes with two engine options, a 1.2-litre petrol engine, and a CNG variant with a 5-speed manual or AMT options. The Baleno caters to buyers seeking a balance between performance and premium features.

Maruti Suzuki Swift – The Reigning Champion

Topping the charts is the Maruti Suzuki Swift, with sales of 17,896 units in July. The Swift exhibited a 2 percent YoY growth compared to July last year and surpassed its second-place position in June, where it sold 15,955 units. Powered by a 1.2-litre DualJet engine, producing 90 hp of power and 113 Nm of torque, the Swift offers a range of features, including a touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, navigation, voice commands, and more. Although it belongs to Maruti Suzuki Arena arm, it boasts a decent set of features, making it a preferred choice among hatchback enthusiasts.

Maruti Suzuki continues to dominate the Indian car market, cementing its position as the leading carmaker. With a strong lineup of models, the brand caters to various customer preferences, from utility vans to premium hatchbacks and SUVs.
